Who we are

Wharfedale, Airedale & Craven Alliance (WACA) is a tightly-knit federation of eight independent, innovative GP practices covering a population of 72,000 patients in North Yorkshire.

We are rooted in providing very high quality clinical care with the patient at the centre of our decision making.

What we do

We are an independent voice of primary care within the three diverse communities of the Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven Clinical Commissioning Group region.

We are a provider organisation and aim to both represent and facilitate general practice at scale to our member practices, whilst maintaining our individuality.

As a CQC-registered limited company, we will also provide innovative services in conjunction with our member practices and other provider organisations.

Our partners

Our projects

Your Alliance is working on a number of important projects that will bring direct benefits to patients in our practice catchments. Some of these projects are subject to a bidding process that means we have to think carefully about what is best for the people we serve in order to secure the funds we need.

We are working on or bidding for funding for these projects now:

Three communities

WACA practices are each fully engaged in the Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven communities which have been designed to represent the diverse populations (and their individual needs) within the Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven CCG

Primary Care streaming

We are involved in discussions with other local providers to review our current primary care streaming provision at Airedale General Hospital.  Across all providers

Extended access

Many local practices already provide an additional 30 mins of GP access for every of their registered patients (outside of the core hours of 8am-18:30hrs).  We are planning to extend this provision from 1st October 2018 to a total of 1 hour per 1000 registered patients…

Other work

The Alliance is also working on other activities that will lead to a more “joined up” local health and care system…
